Mountain West · EV Charging Guide
Wyoming
Cowboy state, careful trips. The hardest EV state in the region, and where NEVI matters most.
[EDITORIAL BODY PLACEHOLDER]
Wyoming is the hardest EV state in the seven-state region. It is also the state where the NEVI build-out matters most, in proportion to current charging density.
Add 600-1000 words covering:
- I-80 as the most important EV corridor in the state (and the I-25 / I-90 secondary roles)
- Yellowstone and Grand Teton EV access — Jackson is the gateway, Cody is the eastern approach
- The genuine sparsity: 100+ mile gaps between fast chargers in multiple places, even with NEVI
- Wyoming’s coal-heavy grid (carbon math is rough — be honest about it)
- The dramatic elevation profile and what that does to range planning
- Why this state is worth covering even though it is hard — the long-haul corridor traffic and the Yellowstone traffic are not going away
Voice notes: candor over optimism. Wyoming is where the directory’s value is highest precisely because no one else is covering it well.
Major Charging Corridors
Every cross-state route, with the charging stops that matter.
The southern cross-state corridor. Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Evanston string along it. NEVI sites at Rawlins and Rock Springs close the high desert gap.
The Front Range corridor. Casper anchors the middle. Sparse north of Casper toward Sheridan and Buffalo.
Northeast corner. Sheridan and Gillette are the only meaningful charging stops. Sparse south toward Buffalo.
The Yellowstone-to-Nebraska corridor through Jackson, Riverton, and Casper. Significant elevation changes. Mostly a destination corridor.
The Yellowstone-Grand Teton-to-I-80 connector. Jackson is the only city with real density. Pinedale is a planning bottleneck.
